If you can, we'd love to have you join us at 3pm on Saturday, August 8th for a peaceful rally to urge Indianapolis city councilors to pass a data center moratorium at the city-county building.
We are thrilled to have State Rep. Cherrish Pryor and State Sen. Andrea Hunley joining us for the rally on the 8th!
And if you're able, please join us again at 6pm on Monday, August 10th, when the Indy City-County Council will vote on a data center moratorium.

On May 4th, the Indianapolis City Council unanimously passed a special resolution urging the MDC to implement a temporary moratorium on data center approvals. However, this resolution lacks teeth and the Metropolitan Development Commission is not required to follow it. Right now, the MDC is considering new, weak data center regulations that streamline the process for developers instead of protecting the people who live, work, and go to school in and around where data centers want to locate.
Across Indiana, wealthy tech companies like Google, Meta and Amazon have proposed nearly 60 hyperscale AI data center projects that are the biggest threat to utility affordability, sustainability, and democracy that Citizens Action Coalition has seen in our 52 years of advocacy. In response, cities and counties in Indiana (and around the country) are passing data center moratoriums.
Indianapolis leaders should do the same - pass a data center moratorium to allow adequate time to craft an ordinance designed to protect our communities, instead of fast-tracking an ordinance designed to enable rapid deployment of harmful, energy-hungry, resource-intensive AI data centers.
